Subaru Impreza WRX STi

The Subaru Impreza was first developed by Subaru in the early 1990's. The first version of the car is often referred to as the 'Classic' or GC8 version. In the UK, the turbo charged Subaru Impreza was badged as a Turbo 2000 AWD, unlike the Japanese market Impreza which was badged as the WRX, and later the WRX STi when the more potent versions were developed.

In 2001, Subaru launched a new version of the Subaru Impreza, called the Subaru Impreza Newage. Subaru at this point decided to brand all the turbo charged Subaru Impreza models as Subaru Impreza WRX and Subaru Impreza WRX STi across all its markets.

The 2001 Subaru Impreza earned itself the nickname 'Bugeye' due to its ungainly front lights. In the UK, the Subaru Impreza WRX and Subaru Impreza WRX STi had slightly different clear lenses to the Japanese market, which had HID projector lights fitted. A common modification to UK cars is the fitment of Prodrive or Morette Headlights, which alter the front end styling and rid the car of its somewhat akward stare.

In late 2003, Subaru relaunched the Subaru Impreza WRX and Subaru Impreza WRX STi with a facelifted front end, and mildly made over rear end. This was after the car received bad press over its looks, and its subsequent gain in weight was criticised for affecting the sharp handling that the Subaru Impreza Classic had been applauded for.

This new facelift, still referred to as the Newage Impreza, had new headlights and rear lights, plus a few further cosmetic changes to freshen up the shape. Better received than the previous version, the 2004 model helped Subaru regain a foothold in the hearts of Subaru enthusiasts worldwide.

2005 has seen another facelift (MY2006 model), the last one before the all new Impreza hits the streets. The all new model is expected in late 2007 or early 2008. The 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX STi again has revised front and rear lights, and has adopted the new corporate nose that mimics an aeroplane fuslage and wings, which is a link to Subaru's parent company FUJI Heavy Industries other businesses.

Subaru - Scooby - Subie

The Subaru Impreza WRX, Subaru Impreza WRX STi, and its many derivatives have picked up a number of nicknames over the years, the most common ones being Scooby, as in Scooby-Doo (Soo-baa-roo) and Subie.

Ofter referred to with one or both nicknames on the internet, it can be confusing for Subaru Impreza enthusiasts who are not aware of these pet names when they see them used en-masse on forums and BBS.

Subaru Impreza Photo Archive Future Plans

There are always things to do with this site, from routine maintenance of the many Subaru Photographs, to changes to layout and site structure.

I am hoping the Subaru Photo archive will keep going for many years, with good solid content that visitors want to see.

I would love for the Subaru Impreza Photo Archive to get a better placement in the search engines, which will further improve the number of submitted photographs by exposing the site to a wider audience.

One of the reason for the layout changes is to try and optimise the Subaru Impreza Photo Archive and improve its search engine rankings.

If you would like to help scoobyphotos.com, one of the most effective things you can do is add a link back to the site from your website, or on any bbs/forums you participate in.

Long term, I hope to continue having the largest collection of Subaru Photographs on the web, all served up in a good clean website thats easy to use.

I am always on the lookout for new Subaru Photographs, so please submit photgraphs of your car to be added to Subaru archive if you have any that you would like the Subaru community to see.
