MY2006 Imprezas hit the UK
Ian Litchfield of Litchfield Imports is now starting to get the new 2006 model Impreza in. Ian seems to be able to get his hands on new models pretty quickly (the 2006 model is not due to be on sale here in the UK until the end of the year).
As I've mentioned before, the looks of the new model are still to grow on me, and I'm not sure of the subaru badge placement in the center of the boot. Several people have also pointed out that the location of the front number plate appears to spoil the looks of the car. Perhaps a smaller offset plate would be better, although the likely hood is that you'll get pulled over by the police for having an illegal number plate. Shame the Police don't apply the same law to motorbike owners, who don't have to have a front number plate, and normally have a rear number plate so small that you can't read it from more than three feet away.
Anyway, I digress. So the new 2006 model is now in the UK as an import, hopefully Ian will get the boys over at Evo to take it out round some of the welsh backroads to see how well it performs.
Ian is perhaps most famous for producing the Type-25, a JDM STi with the 2.5ltr US engine and suspension from the Spec-C. This quote is from his website -
"Since the launch of the Type 25 in early 2004 its success and critical acclaim has been fantastic but we have not stopped there. Constant development has been going on in the background as we look to give a fresh faced Type 25 improved overall performance. The appeal of the Type25 is how it feels as a complete package so gaining an overall improvement was going to need to a more holistic approach with each part coming under scrutiny."
It looks like Litchfield Imports are going to continue with the Type-25, further developing what they have already learnt and applying it to the new model. I'll look forward to the review in Evo.
