Subaru Modifications
Subaru Bodykits
There are a number of manufacturers of bodykits for the Subaru Impreza, although none are overly popular. Because the Subaru Impreza is quite an aggressive looking vehicle to start with, external modifications are normally restricted to a few key areas:
- Rear Wing
- Rear Bumper
- Rear Lights
- Rear Trunk/Boot Lid
- Front Bumper
- Front Splitter
- Front Lights
- Front Fog Light Covers
- Bonnet/Hood Lid
- Front Air Scoop/Vent
- Rally/Spec-C Roof Vent
The rear wing is normally replaced on the Subaru Impreza WRX with one from the STi, and quite common now is the removal of the wing completely.
Headlight conversions can normally be found on the classic shape Subaru Impreza, in the form of morette twin headlights, and changes to the 2001 NewAge Subaru Impreza include Prodrive headlights and JDM Projector lenses. The newer 2004 and 2006 model Subaru Impreza's do not seem to have attracted the same attention from the headlight manufacturers, although a conversion is available for the 2004 model, its not that popular.
Rear lights can be replaced by aftermarket ones on a number of different models, if the owner chooses, although the 'lexus' style silver lights are often criticised for looking out of place on a Subaru.
Front splitters are often added to Subaru Imprezas, especially those models that come without one as standard. A popular choice is the splitter that is found on the front of the Subaru Impreza P1, which has been produced as a copy by a number of companies, and can be bought in carbon fibre.
On a Subaru Impreza, the bonnet and boot lids tend to get replaced with carbon fibre versions, which reduces the weight of the car and improves overall performance.
