Subaru STi
The Subaru Impreza WRX STi is the name given to the current top of the range turbo charged model Subaru Impreza. STi, or Subaru Technica International, is the performance arm of Subaru.
Originally, the Subaru Impreza WRX was rolled off the production line and sent to Subaru Technica International to be modified in accordance with the model requirements. This was soon changed to a system of modifications during the build process, enabling both Subaru WRX and Subaru STi models to be produced without the overhead of complete cars being stripped down and rebuilt with uprated components.
The STi badge appears today on Subarus range topping Subaru Impreza WRX STi, and is an indicator to the uninitiated that it has more power than the standard Subaru WRX. Where once Subaru used the STi badge exclusively on its special edition rally derivatives, it now uses the Spec-C and s20X badging to signify even wilder and extreme versions of the Subaru Impreza.
